| As we know, almost all modern counties with its own national language has gone with reform of standardization. A writing system cannot be used for communication smoothly unless it is standardized.

| To date, however, Chữnôm has never been standardized, a Vietnamese word can be represented by variant Nôm characters. As a result, people write Chữnôm according their own preference, the Nom texts might be misunderstood frequently, and this will cause the inefficiency and misunderstandings in communication.

| The Committee's "Nom Standardization Project" aims to standardize Chữnôm, to remove barriers to communication and strengthen a mutual relationship

| and eventually restoring Chữnôm's former status, at least as a serious, modern, legitimate alternative writing system for the Vietnamese language.
